T-SAIL: Technion Air-Atmosphere Interactions Research Laboratory

Welcome to T-SAIL site, the home of a research group focusing on various aspects of wind-waves interaction. Our group is involved in variety of studies in the fields of experimental fluid dynamics, water waves, wave-wave and wind-wave interactions, atmospheric boundary layer flow and more.

The facilities, located at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Technion, include a medium size wind-wave flume, a small scale waves basin, and other smaller installations. The faculty environmental wind tunnel is also available for experimental work. In addition, we are involved in field work, both in the open sea and in hilly terrains of Northern Israel. The laboratory and the field experimental setups are equipped with the state of the art instrumentation for direct and indirect measurements of important flow parameters of the water waves and the air flows. The instruments available include resistance and capacitance type wave gauges, sonic and hot-wire/film anemometers, pressure gauges, large resolution and fast imaging systems used also for PIV/PTV, and more.
